Research Opportunities

	Advanced water and wastewater engineering technologies to monitor, understand, and combat pollution;
	Quantitative methodologies for accurate environmental impact assessment; and
	The use of information (visualization) technology tools to communicate the predicted impact to the citizens and public decision makers.

At present, worldwide, there is no systematic methodology to evaluate environmental risks of the kind we face in Hong Kong. There is a genuine opportunity for innovative research to be carried out by engineers and scientists who are familiar with hydrological and environmental processes, and statisticians who have a fundamental precise understanding of risk analysis.

Hence, we must take a holistic approach, based on the synergy of our interdisciplinary research group, to tackle the unique problem that faces Hong Kong.
