Release Announcement
VISJET 2.5
VISJET 2.5 is officially released in
August, 2009. It is now coupled with the new JETLAG 2008 engine.
In this new version of JETLAG
(VISJET2008), a general treatment of near-far field transition is
implemented in a way that reproduces exactly the asymptotic behavior of advected line thermals
and puffs. More information on this new engine
can be found from the JETLAG 2008 technical
note
.
VISJET 2.5 can be downloaded from the VISJET website at www.aoe-water.hku.hk/visjet.
Existing VISJET 2.0 users may enjoy a FREE upgrade by entering their old
registration keys to unlock VISJET 2.5.

VISJET 2.0
We are happy to announce the release of Version 2.0 of VISJET, an interactive virtual reality-based initial mixing prediction model. VISJET is based on a decade of buoyant jet research and actual application experience; it combines the Lagrangian model JETLAG with visualization technology. The model is supported by many basic turbulence modeling
computations, laboratory experiments, and field studies. It has been used in a number of major outfall applications. VISJET is Windows-based and can be used for a wide range of effluent discharge and ambient environmental conditions, for both man-made and natural environmental flows. It has a number of graphic features that can be useful for study of environmental impact, plume merging in a stratified crossflow, and outfall design.

Field Applications
The JETLAG model has been widely used in various field
applications, including the Sydney Deepwater Ocean
Outfall and the Hong Kong Strategic Sewage Disposal
Scheme (SSDS). Since the release
of VISJET 1.5 in April 2001, we have also
received many valuable comments from users who have downloaded and evaluated
the software.
